Fields Bridge Park West Linn Oregon

Did you know that Fields Bridge Park is where the Willamette Meteorite which is the 6th largest in the world was discovered in 1902? It can be found in the Museum of Natural History where it's been since 1906. As I walked along the Meteorite interpretive trail, this morning,I came upon the replica of the meteorite as well as many descriptive display boards discribing how the meteor found it's way down from Canada to West Linn. Interesting stuff! Fields Bridge Park is also a popular baseball park with it's new turf, covered batting range, basketball courts and play structures. This is a great place to go for a nice walk along the Tualatin River Trail.. I know I see lots of people walking their dogs as well.

The first picture of the falls posted (bottom photo) was a nice find and one that will be dried up come summer. Right now with the rainfall, you can come upon many small falls here and there. This one is right across the Tualatin river from the Park. I thought this was something really pretty.

I have no way of knowing where that is Cindy, but it looks like a good place to think about things. Nice and peaceful.

Hi Greg, thanks for checking this one out. Being in Seattle, you probably have quite a lot of places just like this all around as well.

Hi Cindy,

My guess is Willamette Falls. I have an instrument made from walnut salvaged from that river.

Hi John, that's a great guess! My pictured fall is not as grand as the Willamette falls. That's on my list of thing to do a video on. Willamette falls and the locks. Very interesting process for the boats to come through . How did you come across an instrument? Sounds pretty cool!Willamette falls locks

Hi Cindy - I obviously have no idea where this is but I think your weekly challenge is a very good idea - fun for the locals to get involved with and keep coming back. Post on Portland coming imminently.

I don't see any snow, so where ever it is, I wish I were there.

Hi Jill, I was thinking on maybe offering a gift certificate to Starbucks..or a local restaurant to the first person who guessed it correctly in the comment section..most likely on my Facebook page. Not sure if anyone local reads these each week...but I do know one of my friends guessed it right last week..so at least ONE local person is reading. I like that it gets me out to take pictures, then can highlight later that day where is was and give some more info on that location. I'm learning lots about these places as well!

Susan..shhhhhh....don't jinx us. There were parts of Portland that saw some snow this morning..but luckily not where I was. Our city is just not really good with snow.

Hi Cindy,

Not terribly far from you area is Bend, home of Breedlove Guitars. Four years ago, they built one for me. All the materials were hand selected by me at the factory. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Hi John, I've been to Bend a couple of times, fun place. That's really cool to be able to hand select the materials for your guitar. Makes it one of a kind and personal for you.

Hi Kevin....:( I lost you at Meteorite huh? LOL. It actually is pretty serene. This park is less than a mile from my house and the sad part is I don't take advantage of the walking trails as much as I should!
