Okay, so I consider myself a social person. But I’m a bit socially awkward when it comes to all this social media stuff. Activerain, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, 4Square. It's like going on a first date, you're excited about where the relationship will go. Then you meet the person and realize you really want to date them again and again. You start telling your friends about them, mentally making out the guest list for your future wedding, "inviting" your "fans," people who "like" you and making sure that everyone that matters is "Linkedin" to this new experience. You're looking forward to your "happily ever after."
It's official folks, I'm falling in love. All this social media stuff has me head-over-heals! I think I've become a bit of a social media polygamist. Don't tell my husband although I think he already knows. I'm obsessed! It started out casual, just posting a thing or two here and there on Facebook, "reconnecting" with people, "liking" their comments, sharing “what’s happening” on Twitter in 140 characters or less and "following" people who had interesting things to say. Then I found out people were actually "liking" my posts, "commenting" on them and "retweeting" them on Twitter. Adrenaline rush! I'm ready for some PDA (public display of affection) now.
I'm enjoying all this social media stuff. I’m a little bit beyond the awkward stage and I’m excited about the future. Certainly there are times I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing, where this is all going or how exactly I'm going to get there. But you can’t move forward standing still. I love the social aspect of all the online media sites and see it as an opportunity to promote my services as a real estate professional. My friends are already sold on it, but I want new friends, new fans, new connections and new followers to know that if they ever have a real estate need in Oxnard,California, they have a friend in me.
All this social media stuff allows me to introduce myself and my services to those who didn’t even know they were looking for a new friend. Besides my Facebook posts and my Twitter tweets, I’m going to take every opportunity to blog on ActiveRain (the PDA of social media) about anything and everything that matters to me and introduces me to new friends. I want to find new people to “like” me, “follow” me and repost and retweet what I have to say...and I want to reciprocate. Mostly, I want to be invited into their lives as their new friend and real estate professional. Here’s to “happily ever after!”
