Squalling over Lake Union

By
Industry Observer with ARFCO Media

We're having some dramatic weather in Seattle today. I noticed the light change coming through the office windows and looked out to see this squall moving north over the lake. I was surprised when I looked at the photo that it appears to be in black and white. It was taken in color yet the low clouds and shadows have muted everything. Can you see the Space Needle hiding in the mist?

Lightning and thunder erupted as this little storm front ran into Capitol Hill just behind me.

Rene...

I have noticed this phenomenon with digital photography ... shots appear to be B&W when they should have some color. It happens in blowing snow or heavy cloud.

Richard: so true, yet it was kind of black & white... but there was blue above... I was just thrilled it wasn't all blurred out! :o)

Charles: As I call them, a delightful suprise.

Glenn: Too funny, it was a rather kalideoscope of weather today.

Paul: Yes indeed, with the Blackberry! The light changed so fast and the little storm came through. I didn't have time to run downstairs and grab my Fuji out the car. So I ran out on the deck and fired off a few with the Blackberry. For all the crappy pictures you get from it, you do get a few gems... ;o)
