Why new agents do not stay in Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with Real Estate

I think that the majority of new agents only stay in Real estate for only a year or less is because they give up or don't do enough business to pay all of the fees. Getting into Real Estate is expensive so if you don't have something going immediately or within a couple of months you will get discouraged and want to give up. This is why a lot get out of the business. I myself  have been in this boat, but I just keep going because I know I get something going. My advice to anyone starting out in Real Estate is to have some money saved up or have a part time job until you get things going. Best of luck and never give up!

thumbs up

I feel that most people cannot see this "job" as self-employment, entreprenuerial, leadership tasks. It is easier to show up at a job to take orders, do what it necessary and get a paycheck at the end. In this business, the sky is the limit and that can be the problem sometimes. Where to start is the question.

Many people enter this business with illusions of grandeur only to find out it will require hard work to achieve success.

As a recruiter for my office I can tell you the fees make a huge difference. Many new agents struggle to pay them even though they are aware of them far enough in advance to budget them. We have to terminate agents every quarter for non-payment of fees, or face paying fines if we do not.

As someone else mentioned, most do not understand that they must run their business like a business or they will fail.
