Interesting seminar I went to last week in Sacramento, CA put on by Realtor.com. Hello to anyone that was there from ActiveRain. The ballroom was PACKED. It was mostly geared towards the Tech World of Real Estate and how we all need to "JUMP IN" or we may "FALL OUT". Does this mean "jump in" to the bottomless hole of the techie world? No kidding, it can be bottomless!
I strive to be on top of the new trendy Apps, new mobile phones with the largest abilities, new software that lends itself to fancy photos, creative blogs, QR codes, video imaging, and picture editing tools. I have my Iphone, I blog, I am now taking videos of my listings, still haven't built a QR Code, use Picnik for picture editing, and am working on a newsletter with my fancy software. I think I jumped in the TECH HOLE and can't get out!
So this being said, is it working? Will all this mumbo jumbo really make a difference when I take a lising appointment, or try to work with a buyer? Most certainly! One APP at a time! I recently took a duplex listing in San Leandro, and it is tenant occupied. One of thetenants have been in the unit for 18 years! Now this is certainly home for them and they would rather not be bothered by a sale or a showing since they don't want to move in the first place! The light began to flicker in my "Tech Hole" and things got brighter! I took a video with my Iphone and walked the new potential buyers through the home. I have actually shared this video 4 times with potential buyers in the past 2 days! No bother to the tenants!
So really, the tech hole of 2011 isn't all that bad! Just master one new APP at a time! Write one new blog about your favorite house, or favorite hiking trail or neighborhood. Take a video of your newest listing and share it with your seller. You don't have to be the expert, but like Nike always says, "JUST DO IT".
