I've been going over photos from my recent staging projects, and this secluded Mill Valley oasis was a particularly fun home to stage (once you finally made it down the 49 stairs to get to the front door of this 3-story house!). A gentle waterfall from a seasonal spring added to the tranquil atmosphere. To this day I still covet the spa-like master bath!

While the homeowners' art collection was more avant-garde than some potential home-buyers might prefer, after they moved out I was still able to infuse the house with original art and fresh colors to appeal to a younger buyer. As an Interior Designer it was great to have a contemporary staging project again -- one of my favorite styles to work with.

Thanks so much, Kathy! Unfortunately this project didn't have the benefit of professional photographs, but I did try to keep online MLS photos in mind when staging the space. I used the pops of coral color here and there to guide the eye through the rooms, while still trying to keep the decor fairly serene. I certainly didn't want to compete with the beautiful surroundings. I appreciate your comments, Kathy!

Hello, Michelle! This home had such a happy vibe to it, I only tried to enhance what was already there.

And yes, Wanda, 49 steps just to get to the front door! Inside there were still three floors to thread through.... I still groan thinking about our staging move-in date, in the midst of weeks of rain. One of our movers slipped badly on the wet exterior steps. YIKES! That said, once inside it's really a happy, tranquil space.

Tori -- don't forget it all had to make it UP the same 49 stairs as we de-staged! To be honest these stairs have been the rule more than the exception in most of my recent home stagings (and threading a moving van through winding narrow streets is another hazard of the job). Another reason that the Staging profession isn't for the faint of heart...

So glad you liked it, Sally! With all the stairs and contemporary updates, we felt that the likely potential buyer would be younger, and would respond to a sophisticated contemporary organic style. With no particular color scheme to work with in the house, I took inspiration from the brick from the living room fireplace, as well as the from large original painting in that room. From that point everything came together with ease.

Anna -- without question the stairs were the biggest challenge (WHEW!) -- in truth this house was a complete delight to stage.
