Are Shortsale and Bank Owned Real Estate Agents Paid Too Little to do their Job?

Shortsale and Bank Owned Properties are not much fun to do and it takes alot of time for a buyers agent to do the work trying to get a hold of a Shortsale or Bank Owned Listing agent on the phone or to return calls. Are Shortsale and Bank Owned Real Estate Agents Paid Too Little to do the Job They Do? or are Listing agents just flat out LAZY?

You know what I'm talking about;

  • One photo on the listing
  • Photos that look blurry or out of focus
  • No showing instructions
  • No driving directions
  • Wrong street direction ie, NE, NW, S, SW...
  • Incorrect data
  • Call listing agent for key, then not answer your phone or text ( were not selling real estate in the 80's anymore)
  • The list goes on.

These Shortsale and Bank owned homes were someone's pride and joy at one time and listing agents are treating them like garbage, some have never even been to the property. Would you list a home that is not in default the way you do these?

Help us all get out of this economy by getting these homes sold and off the books, by getting them properly listed as if it was not a throw away house. No wonder consumers see these listings and think we actually get paid too much for what we actually do.

Please tell me what you think both as real estate agents and consumers. Do we need to set the bar higher? or just say the heck with it.

Sonny, the problem is the banks do not know what the agents are doing. It is really a disservice and makes us look very unprofessional as an industry.

I have been doing lots of short sales now and list and market  them just the way I would any other property. I actually have agents thanking me for answering their calls and talking with them on these properties.

I have endeavored to list REO's but the areas are closed up with certain agencys that don't even PUT YOUR OFFERS IN!!!!!

So as Johnny said "Don't get me going"

Nancy, and we wonder why the banks don't respond and get the offers approved in a timely manner.

Johnny, Please, we all want to hear your story.

To the agents that are guilty of doing this, It's cool, Just start stepping it up and make improvements on your listings, it's not too late.

Taking the easy way out with bad listing pictures, no instructions to show the house is always going to spell trouble for the buyers agent.
