We lived and loved Monclair.  We would fish in our boat.  It was a great subdivision.  We relocated to Manassas because the commute up through Dale City was harder in previous years.  We relocated from Manassas to Alexandria to shorten my  husband's commute to MD.  And, finally we relocated to MD in 2007 so he no longer had to get on the beltway! :)  I miss VA.  I admit I like Southern MD, too.  I guess I make friends easily and adapt no matter where we live.  I probably would have made  great military spouse, at least as far as the moving around. :) Great posts on all these communities.

Gail You really solved your personal commuting problem in small bites. We would probably like MD as well - both are very similar

Steve  Thank you - Montclair is one of the very popular communities in Prince William County.  It has all the amenities of a small town including its' own firehouse, shopping center, schools, golf course and lake as well as public parks
