Denver Relocation Info: And The Wild Winds BlowHighlands Ranch CO mountain view

There are 2 things I have found over the years about Denver winters that are surprising to my Denver relocation clients.

#1) That we aren't always buried in cold & snow from November through March.  We covered that a bit lately, so I won't really cover that again today.

#2) The second being the wind.  When we get our warmer temps and the mountains are getting a good deal of snow, it can tend to be very windy here on the front range.  I am not meteorologist by any means so I won't bore you with the science of it - but it is part of what keeps us dry and relatively warm.

Is it windy every day in the winter?  No.  But there can be some that are a bit more windy than others and perhaps beyond comfort of wanting to hang outside all day.  Today isn't too bad, right now anyway, but it seems like it is picking up and I hear some stronger gusts now and then.

Better than another foot of snow though.

I actually did not take this photo today, but a day like today when it was very nice and warm on a winter day in Highlands Ranch, but windy - just over 3 years ago in February of 2008.

Whether you took that picture today or three years ago, it's a great shot and representative of how I always think of the Denver area. . .

Hi Brenda - Thanks! This was taken on the south side of the Denver metro area in Highlands Ranch.

Interesting... I would have thought it was snowy all winter!

Many do when they move here Chris. Today is actually even windier than yesterday I think.

Steve, I know that prior to my first visit to Denver years ago that I thought the weather would be very cold and snowy since it's known as the "mile high city". I was rather surprised that the weather there is somewhat similar to the metro area here.

Today would be a great example of that - it was gorgeous.  But it sounds like we may have snow on he way.
