Home Safety Issues: The Series

I originally set out to write a 10 part series on common home safety issues, but in planning the series more things came to mind. So I’ve decided to keep the series open until I run out of material to share.

The purpose of this series is to share with you, the Realtor, the homeowner and the future homeowner things I feel you should know in order to keep your home safe. There will be one daily post starting tomorrow. I have listed the titles of the first 14 posts below:

Part 1- Carbon Monoxide: How A Co Detector Can Save Your Life
Part 2- Smoke Inhalation: Smoke Detectors Are There For A Reason
Part 3- Please Don’t Scald The Baby: Turn Down The Temperature On
            The Water Heater
Part 4- T&P Valve: Why Do I Need One?
Part 5- Missing Extension On The Water Heater: So What
Part 6- Its Only 3 Steps: How Aunt Lucy Broke Her Leg
Part 7- Lights: These Stairs Lead To The Basement No One Goes Down
            There Anyways
Part 8- Deck Rails Block The View: How To Loose Friends and Get Sued
Part 9- The Balusters Are 6 Inches Apart: My Kids Are Not That Dumb
Part 10- GFCI: This House Has Done Fine Without Them
Part 11- I Don’t Need A Chimney Inspection: I Used A Creosote Sweeping Log
Part 12- Why Do I Need Lights At The Top and The Bottom Of The Stairs
Part 13- Its Not Winter, Why Should I Turn Off The Water To The House
Part 14- Automatic Garage Doors: Keeping Them Safe for Children and Pets

Please feel free to ask any questions pertaining to the subject posted and to leave any comments you may have. Even if your comment disagrees with I’m saying it might be of value to those reading.

Hi Johnathan!  I am excited about subscribing to your blog. I really appreciate hearing things from the perspective of a home inspector.  Just today someone asked me a question about electrical wiring in a 1940 home and the only response I could think of was "You'd want to have a home inspection and go from there".  So, I am glad you are still here!
