t’s time to take a night off of work, school and the rest of your daily stressors and immerse yourselves in the local talent of the Georgia Ensemble Theatre. The next play in the 2010 – 2011 season, Inherit the Wind, will be opening on February 24, 2011, and tickets are already on sale. This particular performance is one that you will not want to miss because Inherit the Wind happens to be one of the greatest epic plays of the 20th century.
Touching on many issues that are relevant in today’s society, Inherit the Wind is a fictionalized account of the 1925 Scopes “Monkey” Trial, which deals with the persecution of a Tennessee teacher covering evolution in a high school science class. At the heart of the play, you’ll find a debate on whether or not we even have the right to think for ourselves. As Americans aren’t we encouraged to celebrate our differences? Or do we push for conformity? Inherit the Wind digs into the heart and soul of America in a timely search for perspective and enduring hope.
John Ammerman and Eddie Levi Lee lead a remarkable cast of over 20 in the theatrical event of the season directed by Robert J. Farley. You can enjoy Inherit the Wind at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center from February 24 to March 13, 2011. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online.
