My “Mac” Experience…Part 3

By

Welcome to the third and final post in my Mac series. So yesterday we left off with my reinstalling the Mac OS several times before learning my lesson. Once I figured out what I was doing wrong, things progressed quite well. I downloaded and installed some cool and useful apps and now have a kick butt laptop to work with. But what you really want to know is the bottom line, right? Is the Mac that much better than the PC? In my humble opinion it comes down to personal preference. I'm not going to say I am so in love with it that I can't imagine going back to my Windows PC. I'm an equal opportunity Geek. They are both powerful, useful machines. Much the way a parent can't play favorites, I love them both for their unique qualities. If you are in a quandary and can't decide which to go with, go to BestBuy and check them both out. Use the keyboard and touch pad, open and close programs and files and see what you think. Do a little more research. Decide what you are willing to spend. You will come to your own conclusion and you will designate yourself either a Mac or a PC person. Or maybe you are like me and will need to have one of each. :)

Karen,

Very informative and I guess I will have to start calling myself a GEEK GIRL2.

I love the power and options of both machines.

Karen, having used both machines for decades, IMHO, MACs are built to to last. Mac users, tho small in numbers are a demanding lot. They pay more and expect more from the software and the machines. I still have an old Tiger laptop that rocks on. (I have replaced two Windows machines in the same time frame.) Once you get the hang of it, you will understand what I am saying...

BTW, I have XP on the Mac because Vista sucked badly. I am not about to pay 300+ for Windows 7. Besides, XP runs the software that I need...

James, Yes it is. However I think most people would be able to make a definitive choice between the two.

Jayne, Hooray! Someone like me :) Having the best of both worlds is always good!

Michael, I agree that the Mac does seem extremely solid and powerful. Hence, it will last. And yes, Vista was a disaster. XP was an excellent OS but Windows 7 is absolutely fantastic. When the price drops some, you may want to check it out :)

So Karen, if you do both the Mac and the PC, does that make you a bi-Geek?  (Sorry - bad joke)

Hi Karen - We are running two computers on XP and one on Vista (sigh).  Only our kids have Windows 7.  : )  Maybe the next computer should be a Mac!

My daughter and I were talking about this just yesterday.  I guess Windows 7 was designed on the MAC concept.  I hate windows 7.  Give me my old PC

Hi Chris, Vista? Really? I feel your pain...Next up should be Windows 7 or yes...a Mac!

Hi Kate, I'm really surprised by your reaction to Windows 7. I have only had positive feedback on it. But then everyone has their own preferences so whatever system works for you is the one you should use.
