A Sign of the Times?

Austin, Texas - Jamie Showing off Rent Weird SignBranding, being creative, drawing attention to your business - that is an important element in building our business.

We can no longer just show up to the office, answer the phone, hope for a walk-in to drive our business or to make a living at this career.  We must look towards giving oneself an edge, look, show we are different and be remembered as that point of difference.

It begins with your personal look.  That look should be a reflection of you and your style, it must be memorable.  The name of your group, the logo, the color choices all are a reflection of you how you will be remembered.  Catching attention at a first glance.

My daughter Jamie, who is a graphic designer in the Austin, Texas area designed this wonderful example of signage.  Note the clever company name.  Edgy colors that are subtle but pop, great logo which visually tells what type of business and dwelling they specialize in leasing.

Nothing more energizing than to freshen your business with a new image.  It keeps you modern and makes a statement that you are creative.  A personal logo, not company logo is highly advised.  Use the expertise of a graphic designer as they know how to professionally capture what you seek and keep it refective of the proper fonts and colors, etc.  They can assist with a great branding campaign. I saw a makeover of one of our local large companies that took a very traditional sign and created a more modern yet still elegant new look.  It is helping the company grow from the image of older real estate professionals to attracting the younger agents.  Same thing applies to you and your business, you don't want to look dated .. first impressions!

Have fun with your new look, give thought to what message you want to send and create an image that you will enjoy and reflects your business and YOU.

I actually think that sign is cute but don't love the title... just my humble opinion..... when we try to inject humor, some folks will "get it" and some folks won't. I liken it to putting a political sticker on my car... I may be pro X and my future client may be pro Y. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be the best realtor for them. Love the idea of the edgy, cool graphics though. Have a great day!

Great example. Now more that ever "the brand" is critical.  And you don't have to work for a big brand to have brand recognition. For today if you're not branding yourself, you're missing out too. It helps to have a recognizable brand to back you but the sign above is the perfect target marketing approach.

We're really started top push "brand" and "lifestyle" in our ads.  This is the last one I created.

Thanks Connie for the reminder.

Ellie - you have to understand the clientele that the sign is appealing to.  Austin is an area that has a very liberal community, young with UT campus driving the atmosphere.  The weird is what appeals to the renter audience as that is one of the traits the area is known or accused of having .. different people .. at least the young ones think so.  I would never use that name but I felt it was just perfect for that area!  Thanks for your visit and comments!

Charlie - nice name for your company but I see a sign that could use a logo with a mountain or some reflection to make it memorable .. at least that is my opinion.  I love the color tone, very soothing.  Gorgeous setting!  I was there right after Christmas and for New Years .. had an exceptional time and love the friendly people.  I have told many and we have labeled your town one of our favorite ski places!  You have a wonderful community!!

Kristin - Set a time and do it .. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!!

Thanks for your comments and visit, have a wonderful day!!

Hi Connie, Brand is so important. And, this post is a great reminder that we've got to do something so that people remember us and our company.

Connie - I ablsolutely LOVE the sign. Now, usually I try to stay away from liking anything "Austin"...as my Aggie roots just cringe whenever I'm reminded of UT, BUT...I just love the uniqueness of the sign. Totally works for Austin.

Kim - you are absolutely right .. I made that same comment above to Ellie.  My daughter is an Aggie and lives in Austin now so she has had to tolerate the Texas crowd.  Don't you know that the sign is memorable to the students, caught Jamie's eye right off for the well designed sign & name!  Thanks for the visit, I'll try to throw in some A&M posts to offset this one.

Richard -you do have a lovely photo & I would want to stick with it too ... it's far better than the high school air brushed photos that I usually see from Realtors as they search for the fountain of youth takes place through the camera lens.  Thanks for the visit and comments!

Cindy - the sign & my daughter both are warm, I agree.  Thanks for visiting!

Jim - only weird as in UT (Russel would like that comment).  Actually it is ideal for the Austin audience appealing to young tech type professional, etc.  As always, love to hear your thoughts and comments, I look forward to them!

Gary - It is a little different but that is what I feel gives it an edge .. you remember the name.  Always great to have your comments and visit to my post!!
