On February 18th, Callaway Golf is introducing their new high-tech Odyssey D.A.R.T. line of putters to the retail market. The highly anticipated release was announced earlier this month, and if it's anything like the Odyssey putters of the past, it is sure to be a hit.
The D.A.R.T., which stands for Direction and Realignment Technology, is the next evolutionary step from its original Odyssey 2-Ball predecessor. The difference is that by using the dart-like pattern on the top of the putter head, golfers are able to align the center of the face to the ball much better. With an improvement in target alignment and accuracy, higher consistency naturally follows. Another added feature to the D.A.R.T. is the new multi-layer insert called White Ice. The increased firmness and stiffness to the insert contribute to the putter's overall feel and distance control.
I for one cannot wait to get my hands on one of these bad boys. Anything that helps me lower my score without telling a flat-out lie about it immediately piques my interest. Besides, right behind chipping and driving, putting is the weakest part of my game.
The D.A.R.T. has a suggested retail price of $179, and will be available in both a mallet and a blade. Most retailers will begin carrying them on Friday so make sure you go out and give them a try. I've checked around a bit here in North County and found that the pro shop at Encinitas Ranch will definitely have them in stock. Also, feel free to check out Callaway's online shopping site.
