Science After Dark, a series of social and educational programs for adults, presents a Star Party at 7 p.m. Tuesday March 1, 2011 at beginning at Catawba Science Center (CSC) in Hickory and moving to Lucille Miller Observatory (LMO) in Maiden.
This stellar evening starts with an immersive, guided tour of the Catawba Valley night sky in CSC’s Millholland Planetarium. Then, travel to LMO where members of the Catawba Valley Astronomy Club will host a star party and viewing of the constellations Leo, Orion and the Pleiades.
Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, while socializing and exploring aquarium exhibits at CSC from 6:30 until 7 p.m. Transportation or maps to LMO will be provided.
Cost to attend the Star Party is $8 for CSC members and $10 for nonmembers.
