After 5 years and many developers, the new library located at 4450 Wisconsin Ave. N.W opened on January 24th for its grand opening. The library will consist of the following:
* Separate spaces for adults, teens and children
* Children’s program room
* Space for 80,000 books, CDs, DVDs and other library materials
* Comfortable seating for 200 customers
* 32 Mac computers and free Wi-Fi Internet access
* A large programming room for 100 people
* Two conference rooms for 14 people
* Four quiet study rooms for one to two people
* Vending area

The Freelon Group, the architects who designed the new library, added some unique characteristics to the building. The architects used natural light along with state-of-the-art temperature technology, allowing for temperature changes in each section depending on outside light and temperature. The building includes a green roof that houses as an environment-friendly waste water management system. This new library will provide services to the neighborhood community, including nearby schools like American University.
