Yee-Haw!  Don't You Love a Parade!

cowboy still life

Do you love a parade?  The Tucson Rodeo Parade is a BIG DEAL here in Tucson, in fact the entire public school system shuts down for a two-day Rodeo yee-haw.  This year's parade begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2010.

One of the biggest draws is our annual Tucson Rodeo Parade.  Over 200,000 take in the sights with riders and horses, western-themed floats and wagons, Mexican folk dancers, and of course, marching bands.

If you're worried about getting the perfect parking spot, the lots open at 4 a.m. just off Irvington Road from 3rd Avenue.

If you want a grandstand view, tickets are available. Otherwise, there's plenty of free viewing along the mile-and-a half long route.

So pull out your cowboy hat, your boots, and your favorite jeans and mosey on down to Park Avenue and Ajo way.  Afterward, catch a bit of Wild West history at the Tucson Rodeo Parade Museum.

Enjoy the YouTube Video below - check out the high-stepper at 1:50!

Looks marvelous! San Francisco's Chinese New Year parade was held last Saturday evening--the dragons danced and pranced rain not withstanding! Parades are just plain fun.

Cara, I so love the Tucson Rodeo Parade.   The outfits the riders wear and the magnificent horses - such a great sight.  Here's hoping for out typical wonderful Arizona weather to make the day even more enjoyable.

Cara...love those Horses especially the 'dancing & prancing' Black Beauty.  Had a small opportunity when i had my Business [One-of-a Kind-Outfits] when a local Horse woman had me design her Jacket [Parade] & a matching Horse Blanket [under saddle]. that was a fun time.
Have a great experience.

Wow that is awesome...not to familiar with horses....why the high stepping?   is that the breed or is that something they are trained to do for show?

Cara, this looks like so much fun. I've been to a few rodeos and always loved them.  Be sure to post some pictures if you go.
