When I first started writing posts on ActiveRain. they were literally the tree that fell in the empty forest. No body even read them, let lone take the time to comment on them. I have an especially stubborn streak, so I kept on chugging, and one day, from out of the blue, a post I wrote was featured. I got some comments; I returned them, and a new phase of my blogging life was beginning.
Almost as an aside, I started to keep track of people who had looked at my profile. I had taken some time developing the content of my profile. I tried to make it sincere but on the light side, Really what I was trying to do was to give people reasons, if they were going to do residential real estate transactions in Massachusetts, or a client or friend was, that Elliott Topkins, an experienced real estate attorney, might be a better place to begin than a Realtor.
By and large, my strategy has succeeded, and my posts, which are designed to educate and inform, are driving people to my firm's website, www.topkinsandbevans.com each day. Out of state people are realizing that because attorneys are involved in not only the purchase and sale agreement phase, but also the title review, issuance of title insurance and conducting the closing phases, that having an experienced and hard-working attorney on your side can work to your advantage.
Which all brings me to my next point, the rather large number of people who have looked at my profile. The number is almost 10,000 people, and while I have no idea where that number stands among my fellow Rain People, to me it seems like a lot of people, and the fact that out-of-state people are calling and emailing almost every day would confirm my belief.
So, I want to say, here and now, that it is extremely important to put your best foot forward when preparing your profile. I am convinced that people are looking at profiles and making important decisions based upon their content. Your body of work on ActiveRain, the groups you join, the relationships you develop will get people to your profile. Make sure it rally resonates who you are and the value you might bring to an engagement.
