I was really fretting about it being Furnace Friday and having to write a post about furnaces with Re-Blog still broken on ActiveRain (a real estate network.) I like to share something written by an EXPERT about furnaces...an expert like a home inspector.
Like James Quarello in CT who wrote One of These Things is Not Like the Others....
The song? The game? Like Sesame Street...
The home James was inspecting had a new roof, new siding. Why does the home have a 70 year old boiler?
Asbestos.
We mostly have forced air heat in Central Ohio. Mostly gas forced air furnaces... the kind you need to change a furnace filter on... hint next Friday is Furnace Filter Friday on this site. We will be switching out or washing furnace filters the first Friday of March. Be there... here.
I have only seen a few boilers over the years.
We do see asbetos on heat ducts in basements in older areas. I have never seen it become an issue. From what I've seen encapsulation is the name of the game. Buyers for your protection Get a home inspection.
A good home inspector will pick up on things like "One of These Things is Not Like the Other"
James wrote of "One of These Things is Not Like the Others:
"Anyone who has children or for that matter has grown up anytime from the 70s until now, is familiar with Sesame Street. One of the games they play on the show, which happened to be a favorite of mine and my daughters, is one of these things is not like the others. Basically there are four things shown and one just doesn't belong with the other three. The kids try to pick the out the one oddball object before time is up."
