Building Our House

Real Estate Agent with Equity Fifty Five Realty, LLC

As I was reading my daily Proverb this morning, I read Proverbs 24:27 it reads Prepare your work outside and get things ready for yourself in the field. Afterwards, build your house.

I have read that verse every month for many years on the 24th day of the month, but this morning is struck me "again" but perhaps even more that God really wants us to work and be in the field (out among the sinners, doing His work) and that will makes us strong. Have you ever seen young men working in a field picking up straw bails? Those young men really build muscles! When we are working in the field, then our house will become strong and built up. Why, because we are not worried about building our house, we are just working for our master! Our house will supernaturally be built by God Himself.

If we would realize that God's laws are not made to be intrusive in our lives, but to actually bless us and keep us pure, right, clean, and healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually. Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

Don't try to become strong and clean first before you say to God "here I am, use me"

Paul, that is what I tell my kids, "all of God's laws and rules are for our own good.

Paul, we've found that almost every person who thinks God's ways are for controlling purposes and not for our own good, don't honor authority in their lives at any and all levels. I think this is why Jesus was so blown away by the centurion and his sense of honor and authority, he stated He had not found that anywhere in all Judea yet. Just curious, but do you read the chapter of Proverbs that correlates with each day too?

Hi Bob,

Yes, It's something that I've done for probably around the last 5 or so years. I wish I could say that I've done it longer. My wife and I have always done a "daily devotional" together since we have been married in 1989. We still do a daily devotional together called God's Word Daily Devotional Bible. I've had it since around 1993 or so (not sure what year it was first published), but it is in the translation of New Century Version published by Word Books. It takes you through the new testament in a year along with some old testament that goes along with the new testament teaching, and then a around 4-5 short paragraphs written from some of the best authors on that particular subject, from Bill Hybels, Charles Swindoll, David Jerimiah, and the list goes on. After that there is a short, action point for the day. I really enjoy it, I've probably been thru it six or seven times. I was just trying to find it online and I can't so I'm sure it is out of print, as far as the daily bible setup, not the translation. It does read very neat and clear. I'll have to write down the ISBN number and see if I can find it anywhere.
