Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I have found this can be a clicky business. There are groups of folks that stick together like glue in offices and make it difficult to get into. They have their own private jokes and giggle and whisper like teenagers. That is rude. If you aren't in the click, they never offer to help you if you need someone to do your duty, or help with an Open House. They never offer to show property for you, if you have something come up.
I wonder if they ever think about what will happen to them when they need help? Someone asked me to do their duty today, I said yes. I did not want to do it, I wanted to go shopping. But, I had no reason to say no, except for selfish reasons, plus he was in my click. (just saying).
I am feeling pretty good about being a kind person. Why should I pat myself on the back? That is what God would have me do every time. That is that Golden Rule Thing. Oh, so that works in real esate too? Yep.
Maybe those rude, selfish people have been hurt by this rude, selfish person. Maybe they asked me for help one day, as I was running out the door to go nowhere, except where I wanted to go. Maybe, I hurt their feelings by whispering and giggling in my little crowd.
(You will not believe this, I was writting this blog while doing duty for my buddy. I actually had a walk-in client. A new doctor coming to town. I actually put her in my car and showed her town and some houses. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. That is how real estate used to be. People walk in, you put them in the car, make new friends, and sell them a house, instant referrals from them, and new friends for life). If I had not decided to do the Golden Rule thingie, I would have missed her!
This is an absolutely true story!!!! So let's all start doing the nice thing, who knows, God rewards all our good efforts in one way or another. Thanks God, just for the reminder of who You are and what I am supposed to be doing. Forgive me when I am so so self centered!
