Mobile Apps and Real Estate...Thriving in the Rain

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Woodmont Realty

Hey all you wanna be tech savvy agents! I just attended a great webinar about mobile apps for smartphones that will help realtors with their business. It was put on by a company called Tech Savvy Agent (friend them on Facebook). It is truly amazing that those of us with smart phones have mini computers that we carry in our purses (or for you guys...cell phone case/pocket) every day, and most realtors aren't aware of the possibilities available in our phones to help us work smarter. The webinar discussed how mobile apps are revolutionizing our business (Realtors),how the mobile app business is BOOMING (Apple just reached the 10 billion application download level) and how we can save time, get possible clients instantaneous info and give us strategies for helping us give better service to our seller and buyer clients.

Just a few you might want to check out in your free time are:

Google Analytics/ Posterous or Wordpress Blogging App/ Dropbox/DocuSign/ and OpenHomePro for Ipad Open house applications.

Almost ALL of these applications are free and are available for Android/Iphone and other systems. One thing the webhost recomended that everyone do, is to sign up for the service from your home computer, then to synch it with the mobile app after you have signed up on your computer. There was SO MUCH info that they shared with us...if you go to facebook and request it, they might do another event if the demand was great enough.

I found the webinar very informative...and we are all going to be dragged into the 21st century in time anyway...the only question is...will we go boldly, or will we be dragged kicking and screaming? I choose to go NOW and willingly to try to get an edge on the 80 percent of realtors that don't want to do anything but put a sign in the yard with a telephone number. In this market, it's a little like the show "Survivor...Outwit, Outplay, Outlast". I plan to be in the running for the money at the end. What's your plan?

Tech Savvy Agent is one of my favorites.  Of course, all the savvy agents are here in AR.  Thanks for sharing some of the tips you learned, Fran.

Thanks everyone,

My absolute FAV of the day was called Dragon Dictation. This would come in handy for all of those states (TN included) where it is still legal to use your phone while you drive ...and that usually means texting and emailing as long as we don't run someone over. This handy dandy little tool will let you dictate an email with voice recognition so we can drive with our hands (instead of our knees) and maybe even keep an eye on the road half the time. I recommend that one for all of the realtors in my neck of the woods!

All kidding aside...I recommend turning your cell phone OFF when driving...that way you aren't even tempted to answer calls or answer back with a text or email at the next stoplite. NOTHING is as important as a life (yours or someone else).
