According to the National Association of Realtors, the current average economic impact of someone buying a new home is almost $60,000.

Their research indicated the average home sale generates:

  • $15,570 in real estate services (Title company, mortgage broker and real estate agent);
  • $5,235 in related industry sales/services; (remodelling, decorating, furnishing);
  • $9,987 in local economic multipliers; (caused by income being respent in local economy)
  • $27,738 in new construction inducement (typically 1 in 8 sales is a new home)
This ads up to $58,529 per home sale!  Therefore, each home sale generates If the average annual salary per pesion in the US is $57,400 than each home sale (or lack there of) directly impacts one job each year.

I am sure glad to see home activity pick up in the Boise, Idaho area since it appears growth will in fact cause more growth!  The leverage certainly worked in reverse the past 4 - 5 years!

It's amazing how much the Real Estate market impacts our economy. Buying a house is certainly usually the largest purchase in a person's life. It's been a while back that I heard the somewhat the exact number, so I won't even try to repeat it, but the average real estate transaction has around (80) people involved in it either directly or indirectly. You've got the buyers, buyers agent, buyers agency, insurance company for the buyers agency (taking some risk), the sellers, the sellers agent, the sellers agency and insurance company covering the sale side for the broker, home inspector and his insurance, termite inspector and his insurance, title company - secretary, closer, searcher and their insurance company, lawyer preparing the deed, home warranty company, buyers insurance agent and agency, loan officer, mortgage company, loan processors, appraiser, radon inspector, builder perhaps and his crew, water meter reader, gas and electric getting switched, etc. and the list could go on and on. It's a wonder we can usually coordinate everything well enough to have it done in 30 days.
