Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard Try Outs - 2011

The final date for the 2011 Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard try outs is going to be held this coming week on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. This is the final try out and please note that there will not be any further swim tests for the summer season 2011 after March 1, 2011.

The Newport Beach Junior Lifeguard try outs will be held at the Corona del Mar High School pool located in Corona del Mar. Please view the Newport Beach Lifeguard site for information on necessary documentation.

It is a great program, and the kids really enjoy it. They learn about ocean safety, sun safety, and basic lifeguarding skills at the same time.

Sharon - Only in CA & FL would they be having lifeguard try-outs this time of year. Great information for those Newport Beach Junior Lifeguards.

Great photo highlighting these try outs Sharon. I did scout Lifeguard in Boy Scouts but the ones that do the beach lifeguarding that is amazing.

Hi Michelle - I know what you mean. Although the water is still cold, and sometimes the air temp is as well. The Junior guards try out in the pool though. Ocean lifeguards try out in the ocean. That is next weekend! I'll be writing about that!

HI Gary - that photo was from a few years ago when the kids were doing what is called the Monster Mile - run a mile, and swim back a mile. They are amazing! My daughter (who was 9 at the time) was in that group. She swam by - and I was on the pier and thought she looked so little!
