Surviving Your Serengeti by Stefan Swanepoel first caught my attention because of all of the hype generated by agents on Twitter. The reviews kept coming in positive, over and over again. Of course, I had to check it out.
I bought the whole book, the Kindle version, and read the first two chapters. I was pleasantly surprised at the flow of the story and the strong imagery Stefan created with his words. After knowing him from his Trends Reports, I wondered how well his business mind would create a compelling story. The answer, at least for the first two chapters, is beautifully. I’m looking forward to finishing the book and putting some deeper thought into his lessons.
So of course I took the quiz. The resulting animal is the Mongoose. Interesting point made right away that hit home,
“The first step in becoming a skillful risk-taker is to avoid the two greatest traps that lead to failure: do not “ignore” the risk, or assume that you can’t do anything about it. It’s equally important not to intellectualize the risk to the point where you avoid taking action.”
This analysis of the Mongoose characteristics is worth the price of admission. I will take the quiz results and explanation to heart and analyze important upcoming decisions through these new insights.
The end of chapter two, highlighting the endurance of the Wildebeest, gave an analysis of how one can maximize the skill of endurance. I can’t wait to learn about the traits of the rest of the animals that set them apart, and how to maximize each one personally.
I encourage all to read Stefan's book and TAKE THE QUIZ.
Thanks Stefan!
