REMOVAL OF OLD OIL TANK IN BASEMENT

By
Real Estate Agent with Reddy Realty, LLC

Hi all,

I recently completed a home inspection, and there is an old oil tank that is no longer in use.  There is alittle oil in the tank .  My buyer would like to request the seller remove the tank from the basement. I have not had this situation yet, so Iam asking if anyone has any helpful tips to back up why we are asking to have it removed,

Thanks in advance,

Leslie

I can only speak for my area.  We were always told it was an EPA issue and if your seller had an old tank (outside in our area), not only do you need to remove the tank but dig down in the dirt until testing no longer shows oil residue then refill with clean dirt...very expensive to check and recheck.
