I really love those doors, I recently went south and learned we can get them fairly cheap.

I noticed the main problem is that they probably would not be very energy efficient

Very cool. I love doors that have a personality to them. Gives the exterior something extra. Thanks for the post. Have a great weekend!

Kathy,  They really do make our doors look plain.  Wouldn't you love to have a few for staging homes?

Henry,  You really got me curious about solid wood doors.  I found this information in Consumer Reports:

"Keep energy efficiency in perspective. Steel and fiberglass doors have more insulating value than wood doors, but the differences really don’t matter much. For one thing, doors are a very small part of the surface area of a house and therefore don’t allow large amounts of warm to air escape. For another, heat is generally lost through air leaks around the door, not through the door itself.

We think it’s better to use price or style, not claims for energy efficiency, to choose between doors you’re considering."

Michael,  Thank you.  I like the way you describe them as having personality.  The plain doors and homes that we so often see here in the US really don't seem to have much personality.  I hope you are having a great weekend, too.

Tony & Darcy,  Thank you.  It is hard to find doors with character like this unless you are in other countries.   I try to watch for them now when I travel.

Those are beautiful, Gary. I wish we used doors that looked like that still; they are so classy.

Steve, Thank you.  I've had fun with it, but it looks like I need to make another trip before I can do another - I'll check my archives this week to see if I have used all of them.
