Small House Surrounded By Big Trees - Make Sure The Trees Are Healthy

I have seen many houses severely damaged by limbs or entire trees that came crashing through the roof.

Louisville KY is prone to wind storms, right around Kentucky Derby time. Even strong and robust trees can be felled by mother nature. The same is true for ice storms when the limbs are forced to carry a heavier load than they have evolved to carry.

If a homeowner is concerned that there is tree or limb that can "take the house out", it's best to get an arborist to trim or remove the tree.

When buying a house, it is wise to have the home inspector or an arborist inspect the trees.

Trees are truly a gift and provide many functional benefits and much artistic beauty. However, please take a look at the attached photo. Imagine what one of trees could do to the house!

Dave, How right you are. One bad storm and the house can get clobbered by the limb or tree that should have been taken care of.
