Sometimes it is fun to take a little break from the day-to-day activities that consume us. For those of us in Northern California Lake Tahoe always fits that bill. Whether it is summer or winter there is just about everything to do under the sun available. We have had a pretty lively winter here and at this point the snow pack is looking excellent.
For the little tykes among us (myself included) snow play is something that will always be remembered. This trip is the best we have seen in quite a while. During our annual excursions over the past few years we always seem to experience snow storms the entire time. Well this year is different! After an additional several feet during the latter half of the week the weather has turned and brought the region and its visitors some fabulous opportunities to enjoy the snowy outdoors.
While I am ready for spring there is really nothing better than enjoying sunny snow fun with the family!!! Tahoe Donner is a fantastic place to stay and play and has everything a family needs to have a great time. Hopefully we can expect a few more storms for late spring skiing as well as an abundance of water for California this year.
Doug, It looks like the family had fun! Great post! It is a good idea to get away from time to time!
It certainly is Tony and excellent weather makes the fun a little easier to be had.
Doug--I simply do not think of California and snow in the same sentence. Tahoe Donner is in CA and you had all of that snow?? Not to mention, you all look happy about it! :-)
Please plan a trip to the Lake Tahoe Region. Summer or Winter you will not be disappointed. It is truly a world class destination. Thanks for the comment Pat.
Doug, those photos are great, as is your post. What a fabulous winter in the Sierras--and we'll all benefit from fresh water for the summer. Wishing you all great skiing tomorrow!
Cari & I thank you very much Lottie. We are looking forward to tomorrow. We surely hope you and your husband had a wonderful day around the Bay.
Doug,
The smiles say it all. We join with you in appreciating the snow after the sun returns to the slopes.
Best,
Steve
An absolutely great day out there today. The slopes are in great shape and the weather was fabulous.
There are few places in the world like Lake Tahoe. The only other place that I thought was comparable was Crater Lake in Oregon, but it doesn’t have the recreational activities that Lake Tahoe does. I stayed at Tahoe Donner back in 1994, but it was during the summer when rates were much less expensive.
Howdy and evening to you Doug
Doug, it sure does look like you and your family are having a mighty fine time, there at Tahoe Donner. There sure has been some mighty wild winter weather all across the Country this year. We had an ice storm pay us a visit this morning.
Have a good one
Dale in New Hampshire
Jim: I love Crater Lake as well as many other spots in Oregon. The rates are not too bad in Tahoe Donner depending on the accommodations you are looking for.
I know New Hampshire and the residents are not newcomers to snow and such Dale. Thanks and this has been an excellent excursion.
Steve and I are headed out for a day in Sonoma tomorrow capped by dinner and a B&B overnight for my birthday. Wonder if we'll see any snow in the hills yet tomorrow?
Have a wonderful time in Sonoma Vickie. Don't know about snow but the area has been dusted pretty good over the last week. Happy Birthday!
Doug,
You have a wonderful looking family and it looks like you had a great time in Tahoe. Our recent trip was to David Walley's Hot Springs Resort and Spa in Nevada.... about 18 miles from South Lake Tahoe. We too had a great time.... nothing better than spending time with the family. I just can't get enough of that. Thank for sharing this with us!!!
Thank you Linda. I just checked out your post about David Walley's and am intrigued to say the least. A possible new spot for the family.
Looks like fun Doug. Good to see you enjoying some family time. We recently visited friends in Prescott, AZ and were snowed in. My kids had the time of their lives!
Gotta love the snow Dave. Yes it was a fantastic time for the family. I could have certainly used a few more days though.
It's amazing what a difference a few miles and a couple of days can make. Was in Sonoma just a couple of days later and it was gloriously temperate and brilliantly clear. LOL, oh well, I guess the difference in elevation could have something to do with it as well.
That is true Vickie. I am glad you enjoyed the nice weather and got a couple of days of R&R in. I could have used a few more days in Tahoe myself.
