Zoe Asleep

Zoe tried her best to stay awake until the end to hear best actors and best movie of the year, but she just could not make it.  She was mostly disappointed with this year’s fashion statements but she also thinks that after  Lassie, Benji , and Rin Tin Tin were gone all the others simply do not measure up.

Had to stay away myself and focus on family game night in Lake Tahoe. Very cute...

Doug--I hadn't seen any of the movies, so I didn't bother to watch.  I think my husband had it on in another part of the house.

I was sending up Zzzz's too with Zoe.  I watched the earlier part and I am amazed at how many faces I just don't know.

Pat - I'm with Zoe - sleep was more important than watching the awards. However, I do love to see the fashions and wait for "E" (my guilty pleasure) to give out their reviews. I apparently have no "high" fashion sense because I think most of the gowns look a little over the top or ridiculous! A few are stunning.

Pat - the Academy Awards was last night?  Hmmmmm, after the first 15 minutes of whatever they thought they were doing - I was off to read a good book and get to bed early - I'm with Zoe - not for me.

SaraMana Properties--Somebody Portman for the Black Swan best actress is all I know.  I didn't see any of the movies this year!  We wait and do Netflix.

Rene--I worked at my desk and my grandson messed with my TV---the one at my desk, so I skipped it all.  But like you, I would not have known any of the actors.

Kristine--I always said I wanted to stay up on styles and not become a fuddy duddy, but I think I am doomed.  I know what you are saying!

Jared--It is those dang funny pugs!!

Howdy and afternoon to you Pat

Pat,
I ain't ever been able to get into the Academy Awards. Plus i would not been able to watch it if I had even wanted to. It was not shown on the only TV station that we get here in my area.

Have a good one

Pat:  I had only seen The Black Swan, with Natalie Portman.  I thought it was excellent.  Some folks thought it was a tad long, but I thought it should have been even longer, with more psychological character development, but, then again, I like that kinda stuff !  <smile>

I am glad Natalie won, and for some reason, just from the clips I saw about the Best Picture award... gosh, it looked like such a boring film I cannot even remember the name of it... but I thought, at least from the clips they ran, that there was WAY too much screaming in what was supposed to be a "proper English Royalty" film.

And... I thought many of the women's gowns were fabulous.  And Anne Hathaway and her six gown changes... they were almost all just gorgeous.  But, then again, so is she.

Donne--Was it really THAT funny? :-)

Dale--I never can tell if you are pulling my leg---think you must be?

Ted--Tessa is beautiful.  Austrailian Shepherd?  Zoe would be too intimidated by Tessa's beauty to hang out with her---she is self conscious of her round figure.

Karen--If you could just do this for us every year, most of us would not have to spend hours watching.  I heard Natalie interviewed on the Terry Gross show on PBS and could not believe all she went through to train for the part.  She deserved to win.  I saw a clip somewhere showing all six gowns Anne wore---they were all really tasteful and pretty.  I will catch them all on Netflix!

Pat:  Natalie Portman went through about a year of absolutely BRUTAL training for this film.  And she lost quite a bit of weight in order to look as frail as she did in the film. I read that at times during her ballet training for the film... that her feet were actually bloody from what she put herself through.

Here is a link to a post I wrote last October about the movie.  Black Swan - Natalie Portman... It's the Best Movie She has Ever Done...

I watched the Golden Globes when they were on, I think in January, and the show was excellent.  And yes, I did watch the Oscars all the way through.  But, I watch them differently from anyone else I know.  I live alone, and I guess I don't have much of a life, so stuff like this really interests me... these "psychological studies."  And thats what my degree is in, anyway.  Psychology and Philosophy.  Along with my junior high teaching credentials.

Each of these people... the actors... are actual PEOPLE.  Because of the apparent glamour involved, it may look like lots of fun... but the great majority of these people really WORK at their "craft."

I am fairly intuitive.  If you know anything about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, I am an INFP.  At times it drives me crazy, and it can be both a strength and a weakness, I know.  But... I watch the people.  I see all that is in their faces... their expressions... when they come up to take their awards.  Melissa Leo, for example... the woman who won the Supporting Actress award.  Her reaction was just "priceless."  Sheer emotion.

In many ways, the "Oscars" show is more of a private gathering, with awards given, and we, the public, get to kind of peek in... or eavesdrop... and watch them.  When they take their awards... some of them are just scared stiff.  The ones winning some of the technical awards.  But, even some of the actors and actresses... are very insecure.  You can sometimes see it on their faces when they are up there.

I guess I just watch it in a different way... as more of a psychological study in personalities.  I guess that makes me sort of a "psych dork."  Ahhh... a new term is born.  < dorky grin >

Karen--I would not classify this as dorky-----more on the very high end of intelligence.  Most of the rest of us do watch to see the gowns and hairstyles---I enjoy it more if I like the hosts.  I also enjoy it more if I have seen most of the films, but now I prefer to wait until they come to Netflix.

I do like to watch the audience's reaction of this 'private gathering'.  They really do seem to have compassion for each other, after all who really understand what they go through than someone in the business (and YOU :-)).

My degree is in child psychology and early child development---and I am a certified Montessori Teacher.  I always say this helps me hugely in real estate dealing with people who are supposed to be adults!
