For years, as a kid and young adult, I watched the Macy's Day Parade on television with my dad. It was one of the many shows we enjoyed together (along with F-Troop, MacHale's Navy, All in the Family, MASH, etc.). For the past 11 years I have continued to enjoy watching it on TV only now I do so with my daughter ... somewhat of a tradition now, however it excites me a bit more than her. It has always been on my "Life List" to see the parade LIVE (along with the Kentucky Derby, Indy 500, and New Year's Eve in Times Square). As we all know, life is very short and kids don't want to hang-out with their parents much during their teen years so I decided that this year we will go to NYC and see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade LIVE ... together. We are very excited!! We are driving and expect it to take at least 3.5 hrs. We plan to watch them blowup the balloons Wednesday night and see the parade Thursday. The website for the parade doesn't give that much info as to where the performances take place, best place to watch, etc. We will ask around once we get there but I would definitely be interested in hearing suggestions from everyone as to:
- Where the best place to watch the performances are
- How early we have to get there
- Best driving route from Massachusetts (have TripTik from AAA but open to alternative routes)
- Where to eat in Little Italy
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
