 Kentlands residents retreat to Longwood Gardens on cold winter days

On cold winter day, the thoughts of flowers brighten our spirits and it is a good time for a day trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. It is 127 miles from Kentlands and well worth the trip to visit the Conservatory and the current exhibit, Orchid Extravaganza. We enjoy being surrounded with thousands of flowers with our cameras in hand.

One of the quality of life features of Montgomery County, Maryland is that we can make day trips to many places in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Life is good in Maryland! When you add the quality of life benefits to the strong job market, it is easy to see why this is the fastest area to recover from the economic slump that has impacted the country.

Longwood Gardens is a great way to remember what is to come...spring.

We lived in Pennsylvania long ago, and the rich history of that region offered many great day trips for us. William Penn Mansion, Washington's crossing, the Liberty Bell... Thanks for that reminder!

Roy - You continue to present some of the most beautiful flower photos I've seen here on Active Rain.  I don't doubt that Longwood Gardens would be a great place to spend a winter day.
