Why mothers make great Agents in Real Estate

-We are used to pushing really hard to get it done

-We are control freaks and always want to know what is “going on”

-We are used to emotional out-bursts

-We are not afraid to ask for directions if lost

-We have listened to every kind of music from “Barney” to Jay Z so go ahead listen to what you want

-We know how appliances work because we use them everyday.

-We have already dealt with everyone’s s#*t from diapers to commodes.

-We are used to not getting paid for all we do.

-We know how to text. It is a form of communication from 8yrs on.

-We already have snacks packed in the car for long showings.. no one wants a cranky passenger.

-We already know how to be in two places at once t (sorry that’s one of those secrets along with the eyes in the back of our head)

-We are willing listen to stories about your children and talk for hours..so go ahead bring your mother and her best friend..

-we are already on call 24/hrs a day. (via Elizabeth #37)

Katharine, wonderful post.  Tis true that woman do have a flair for a variety of scenarios as they have had very unique ones in their lives while raising their kids.  It is truly amazing how a woman handles a situation and gets the job done.

Katharine,

Soooooo true!!

I showed million dollar clients for a top agent in our office a couple of weeks ago. She had packed a bag for each of us, with water, an apple, chocolate and a note!

In 30 years of selling real estate I have never done that! To her (after raising 5 kids) it was natural.

This is great. We've all thought about this but I've never seen it expressed so well. Motherhood is good training for lots of jobs but especially real estate.

Don't forget negotiating skills. If you can get your child to eat their veggies, just imagine what negotiating miracles you can perform for you clients!

Also being on call 24 hours a day. It never fails that you sit down to a great dinner or about to walk into a movie or party, and a buyer calls and needs you immediately!

Great post. With 3 children, I can certainly relate.

Great post and how true is that!!  This morning on Good Morning America they had a man who wrote a book called "Man down" that talks about how much better women are than men at most jobs. It appears we make better drivers, better hedge fund managers, investors, etc.  the list went on and on!!

Great post Katharine,

In business I always say..."If you want something done, give the project to a busy person".  From now on I'll include "or a Mom".

I've always been amazed by the scope of tools kept in the purses of a Mom!
