Heritage Park in Plantation Florida

Tree lined path

Broward County is known for it's infamous parks, and this month Heritage Park is in the spotlight. Sitting on 88.5 beautiful acres of green land; Heritage Park is Comfortably nestled in the city of Plantation, and is formally known as Peter's Tract. It was leased from Frederick C Peters by the State; which formed the University of Florida USDA Plantation Experiment Station. This was used to conduct research on the spread of the citrus black fly.

In 1977 the Broward County Commission along with the City of Plantation acquired the park land through a grant from the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund. Abundant in a variety of lush flower and fruit trees and plants; Heritage Park provides park goers with quaint shady areas to read, picnic, exercise or just relax and watch birds and butterflys in a natural habitat.

Since 1984 when the park officially opened to the public; Plantation residents and their guests have been enjoying a variety of activities such as; walking, jogging, and bicycling. Fishing and paddle boating are also popular amoungst park-goers. Lake views also make a gorgeous backdrop for those wishing to exchange wedding vows at the garden gazebo. The Fountain Room is convenient, spacious, and can be reserved for receptions, meetings, parties or any other event.

The 2 photos in this page are NOT from Plantation Herritage park, the pretty sidewalk along the lake does not exist in this park.
