1929 Auburn Takes Best in Show at The Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance in La Quinta

Vintage car owners Aaron and Valerie Weiss of San Marino, CA, were awarded Best in Show for a 1929 Auburn 8-120 Boattail Speedster at The 2011 Desert Classic Concours d'Elegance held Sunday, February 27, at The La Quinta Resort and Club. The Desert Classic Concours d'Elegance is an exhibition of cars spanning the history of automotive excellence. Each year, the invited classic cars are among the most significant expressions of innovative engineering, design, quality construction and finish, performance, accomplishment and historical importance. This annual event features presentations, displays and driving opportunities with participation from some of the world's greatest classic cars, drivers and auto industry personalities. This was the second year the event was held at The La Quinta Resort and Club in La Quinta, CA.

The Motor Trend Classic Editor's Choice Award was presented to Peter Read from Pebble Beach, CA, for his 1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. The Mercedes Benz Classic Center Award was given to Arthur Hadley from Rolling Hills, CA, for a 1053 Mercedes Benz 300S.

People's Choice Award - 1970 Sinthesis 2000 Coupe owned by Peter Giacobbi of Villa Park, CA.

Most Significant Race Car - 1914 Peugeout L45 owned by Ann Bothwell of Woodland Hills, CA.

Most Significant Open Car - 1953 Jaguar C-Type, Bill Pope, Scottsdale, AZ.

Most Significant Closed Car - 1947 Ferrari 166, Don and Carol Murray, Laguna Beach, CA.

Best Non-Passenger Commercial Vehicle - 1959 Chevrolet Fleetside, Michael Thomas, Palm Springs, CA.

Most Unusual - 1949 Fiat 750 Zagato - Scott Gauthier, Scottsdale, AZ.

In addition to the vintage and exotic automobile show, The Desert Classic Concours' d'Elegance featured a classic car auction presented by EG Auctions. The auction was held simultaneously with the show on the golf course of The La Quinta Resort.
