Family Reunion 2011 and Lead Generation!

Real Estate Agent with The Romanski Group/ Keller Williams Realty

After returning from our Keller Williams Realty annual conference that we call "Family Reunion" I have had some time to reflect on the various classes and experiences that I was able to attend or partake in.  What an amazing event once again!!!  It is such a pleasure to be a part of this company that puts the agent #1 and focuses all of it's energy on making us agents do better and work smarter.  KW brings the cutting edge technology to us in every way!  There were over 8,000 real estate professionals at this year's Family Reunion making it the largest gathering of real estate professionals in our industry.  One of my favorite classes was Rick Geha's Lead Generation: Focus on Success Breakout Session.  This was a completely packed room and I was surrounded by other professionals desiring to learn how to stay laser focused on what drives our business....lead generation!  Rick congratulated those who were getting into the business during a time when most are getting out, and applauded us veterans who still understand that knowledge is power and the impact that training can have in taking our businesses to higher levels.

Rick Geha emphasized that Lead Generation is the No.1 thing agents should be doing. Recognizing that Lead Generation is one of the more challenging activities for real estate agents, he told agents "not to beat themselves up about it."  You just have to do it - get clear, get focused, remove all distractions and DO IT!

Geha shared that often doing the 80 percent gets in the way of the 20 percent. "Your 20 percent is lead generating, taking appointments, and negotiating. Condition yourself to stay on the tasks that will earn you more and more business."

Focus on the 80% things outside of your regular work day hours.  Real estate is a professional and we have to treat it like one.  Leads just aren't going to pour in without doing some kind of lead generating activity.  Back in the day, we would get all kinds of floor calls and walk-ins.  The internet has changed the way we do business and most consumers begin their home selling and home buying process on the internet.  So what are you doing to lead generate?  Are you still depending on  your broker to hand feed you?  If so, your business may not be growing; you maybe hit a ceiling or perhaps it has declined.

The same holds true really for every service industry out there - we have to be lead generating!

I also attended some incredible technology, SEO and lead generation classes taught by Ben Kinney - I have a lot of implementing to do on everything that I learned in those classes - very interesting and powerful classes!

Not only was attending Family Reunion 2011 a success; we also received 4 offers including multiple offers on our listings while we were away...and all got accepted!

Great advice! In the past I have made the mistake of cutting back prospecting once I had 2-3 under contract. And I always paid for it in the end. Here's to a great spring!

Awesome post!  We too were at Family Reunion and came away with so many great ideas for further growing our business.  It was an awesome and extremely positive experience and cannot wait to do it all over again next year.  Keep up the good work!
