Long Beach Island, a league of it's own

The Barnegat Light House on Long Beach Island NJ 08008

How is the National Real Estate market is affecting Long Beach Island Real Estate?  As every one knows, Long Beach Island is a place like no other.  Being a resident here for 21 out of 25 years of my life, I have come to accept that with open arms.  I have come to terms with the fact that when I talk to companies from out of the area, I am going to spend most of my time just simply explaining the geography of the island.

  • Yes it is an actual barrier island with approximately 18 miles of beach.  There is a bridge, with out it you would need a boat.
  • Yes, we have the Barnegat light house but the township of Barnegat is not on Long Beach Island
  • Yes, our main town is Beach Haven, but it is a separate township than North Beach Haven or Beach Haven Gardens or Beach Haven Terrace.
  • What about Beach Haven West? No, That is not on LBI.
  • But North Beach Haven Beach Haven Gardens, Beach Haven Terrace, North Beach are separate towns but not separate Townships? And they are all on this one tiny island? What are they like 5 blocks long? Yea, pretty much.

If you think that would get confusing, try explaining to people that one of my listings is in on a Private island in the bay off of LBI.

LBI is a beautiful place, but people still have questions...

National trends must  be affecting Long Beach Island Real estate, what do you mean there are no foreclosures?  Well there are a few, but we have held up extremely well in that aspect.

Home prices are on the rise all over the Nation, is that true with Long Beach Island Real Estate?  Not exactly, since we did fare so well against bank take over, and prices did not drop as significantly as other places across the Nation, we also are not bouncing back as fast as far as price goes.

So do any National Real Estate statistics actually apply in your "Magical World of LBI?"

YES!!!

Click on the KCM Link Below for a little insight that applies to every one across the Nation.

I loved LBI. We lived there in 1985 and 86. My son went to Beach Haven Elementary and had 11 children his class. What a great place to be a kid. Is it still that way or has "progress" caught up to LBI too?

Oh no, LBI is still a great place to grow up.  Many of my friends graduated from the beach haven school.  There has been some talk about changing up the school systems as well.  The only change to LBI over the time that I have lived here is the build up of residential properties.  It's actually a little backwards because many places like Long Branch have become more commercial.  I think that is what helps the property values stay afloat.
