What Is “Walkable”?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

You’ll notice in many descriptions the term “walkable” is used, along with distance to nearby public transportation such as the metro or the bus. But what does “walkable” really mean?

It’s commonly thought that anything under 1 mile from the metro is manageable and can be counted as “walkable.” A short 10-15 minute jaunt each morning!

If you’re interested in a specific Walk Score(R) of a neighborhood or address, you’ve got a great resource to turn to. WalkScore.com breaks down Arlington by neighborhood, nearby amenities, and some general statistics. Click here to explore Arlington’s walkability!

That is sooooooo cool.  Do they have these for other neighborhoods, too?  I love this idea!

We are a little more "rural" down here in Hampton Roads than in Arlington, so there is not as much walking going on, but this is a great blog on those in a more urban area!
