We Buy Houses Fast - Columbia PA: There are certain things that can just turn any buyer around and out the door faster than anything. Especially in this heavily weighted buyer’s market, they can be as fussy as they’d like when they are looking for a home. You can go a long way toward accommodating them.Poor fitting doors are a serious turn off. They should all open and close easily and be straight while doing so. This might just be a matter of you taking a screw driver to the door hinges to tighten them up as they do tend to sag and loosen up over the years.

Turnoffs That Will Turn Buyers AroundInadequate electrical outlets can actually shut down a sale. Today’s homeowners use quite a bit of electrical power and will need many outlets to power up their big screens, computers, cell phone chargers, iPods, and more. It is common to see every outlet in a small house with something plugged in these days. Either add more outlets if possible, or remove all those power strips and extension cords you have plugged in.

Ceiling stains look awful. Not only that, they may indicate to the buyer that there is, or was at one time, a roof leaking problem. If there is no roof leak and it is just stained, paint it with good cover paint like Kilz to get rid of the stain. It will also freshen the room up. Use a bright color, white is preferred, and you’ll light up the room.

Speaking of good cover paint, one of the worst things that can turn a buyer off is cigarette smoke odor. That is very hard to get rid of, but if you want to sell the house you’ll have to try. Cleaning and painting the ceilings with Kilz is a good start. Then get the walls from top to bottom with a cleaner like TSP or something similar. It will need to cut grease so use a good cleaner, and then paint with a paint that helps to remove smells. If the carpet has an odor, change it out. Hardwood or tile floors can be scrubbed well.

These are some general ideas for some common complaints among buyers of homes as they are looking over their potential new living spaces. Eliminating or repairing these things will give you a better chance of having the buyer stay in the house long enough to give it a good look.
