Cemetery Humor

p/c from cemetery

Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd. West Jordan UT 84123

In my mail today I received an advertising p/c from the Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery in West Jordan UT. Amongst the bills and other advertising pieces it stood out for its humor and levity.

The front is suited to winter and the current mountain sports in Utah along with their associated perils.

It is enterprising in its approach, because I am being tempted to forsake my local cemetery (a mere 300 yards away in Sandy UT) for the elevated, beautiful views of Redwood Road West Jordan.

The motivating feature of the piece is a free tour and gift card for a dinner for two.

Notwithstanding that my wife had previously obtained a plot for us in Tucson AZ (where she prefers the weather), and that I am in no hurry to take up her thoughtful preparedness , we have discussed the challenges of resting places at a distance.

But the advertising piece is striking, and the offer good, so I may be tempted to take Bonnie Thackeray, 8015710497, at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, up on her offer. She may have suggestions for other Real Estate advertising.

Cute advertisement Larry. I've decided not to be buried, I'm just going to hang around for the second coming.

Larry...

Now that is some very interesting marketing. I wonder how it is working for them?

Interesting. The draw of food seems win the hearts of many. Almost sounds like a timeshare.  :)

WTG Larry for promoting a great local place.  So many of us don't think that far in advance - and hopefully, it's VERY far in advance.

Good Morning, Larry.  Perhaps you should contact them about being the neighborhood listing agent for this unique development.  You might pick up clients during the tours for the "here now" phase of the people taking the tour, as well as get a bite to eat.  Thanks for sharing - very cute!

Pretty good marketing, eh?  As for me -- I've decided to be stuffed so my children will be able to share having my loving presence.  Gonna will myself to each for 6 months at a time . . . (evil laugh here)!

Very Clever. I can't imagine what it would be like to go shopping for my own plot. I've never actually thought about it.  Eeeek, I don't even want to think about it...but now that I've seen the advertisement...now, I'm thinking about it. Yes, very clever.

In other news, I love your writing style. Totally unique and very enjoyable to read.

All - Thanks for your comments, they kind of overwhelmed me by their number and variety. I think we all hope to postpone the inevitable. The card took me back to a time in my life when I sold space in a crematorium, a progressive American run business in Australia. Certainly shock value for the locals who were not used to the sales approach we had scripted. In anything we do, introduction of humor is a positive.

Lindsay - Thanks for reading, and your involvement. You are generous in your comments.
