iPhone 4 Stolen at Red Habanero Restaurant, Indianapolis, IN

First off, I apologize for posting something like this on Activerain, but with Activerain's amazing google power I wanted to post the IMEI (ESN) and SIM Card numbers online so that if anyone ever checks the numbers online that odds of them finding out the hardware is stolen is highly likely.

IMEI or ESN Number #: 012336001142003

SIM CARD #: 89014103243342081244

This phone has been reported as stolen and a police report is being filed this morning.  Tracking software was installed in the phone, but it was immediately turned off after being found.

As a summary of the events I was out showing homes in the Village of West Clay in Carmel, IN with a client.  Afterward we decided we wanted to grab a quick bite in the Keystone area.  We looked up locations on my phone then headed to Red Habanero Grill on 96th Street.  We walked in to order, paid, then sat down.  I realized I didn't have my phone with me and figured I had left it in the car, where I had used it last, and proceeded to finish dinner.  There was only one other customer there that never came within proximity of us or the store front again.  From that point on the only people there were the employees.

After discovering the phone was not in the car we called the phone from my client's cell and found that the phone was off and going straight to voice mail.  If you know anything about iphones you know that turning off an iphone is a pretty deliberate task.  The battery was full.

We went back into Red Habanero to look for the phone, but was nowhere to be found.  They said we could come back and look in the back if we wanted, but it's a cell phone. Since I never stepped foot behind the counter this seemed a bit uneccesary.

After looking around in the parking lot for awhile the manager came outside and got mad that we were outside looking around and accused me of thinking they stole it.  He showed me his iphone 4 with a cracked screen (which really didn't help his argument at all), and told us we could search the place (One of the employees had left at this point).

Irritated, I went home to call ATT and get a police report filed with the Marion County Police Department.  That's a whole other story in itself.

Once again, I apologize for posting a negative topic on Activerain, but figured it might help prevent the thief, whoever it might be, from selling the phone.

Brian,

I can only imagine how frustrating that would be particularly since the Iphone represents your business and livelihood.

Thats really stinks.  It gives me the feeling that an employee did steal it.  Now what because it sounds like you can track it.

Brian, suspicions does not give you the right to blame on this Restaurant or its employees.

You are entering a legal slippery slope if I was the owner of this restaurant.

Just to clarify my last comment. . my intention it is not critical but informative. A blogger and HIS BROKERAGE! got sued for millions of dollars in Miami for writing a bad/erroneous report on a developer.

I know how important your phone can be and I hope it turns up real soon and everything works out.

Fernando, I definitely appreciate the concern.  With my post though I simply summarized what happened.  Any conclusions that anyone draws are base off of the summary of events.  I didn't accuse anyone of anything directly.

It's pretty wild how people can get sued over things like that!  With the brokerage did they openly slander a developer and accuse them of some sort of unethical practice?

Chuck - I cannot track it while the phone is off, but as soon as they plug it in to try and restore the phone it will take their ip address and attempt to relay it back to me and the authorities to track where it was being wiped clean for re-use.

Thanks everyone for the comments!  Hopefully I'm back up and running soon!

Just to be clear about this post.  It was meant to get the serial numbers of the phone on the internet so that if someone was to find/purchase the phone they would know that it's lost property.  This post in not to implicate anyone, in fact Red Habanero has really good food.  I don't believe that Red Habenro would knowingly condone theft and would expect that if they did find that an employee was responsible that they would be fired.
