This is a serious work in progress

Three days ago, I didn't know anything about Joomla.  I got past the installation, and started populating with content.  The first thing on the agenda is getting all of the articles and pertinent blog posts migrated (copied) to the new site as well as put meta tags and descriptions on them.

While all of this is going on, I am having to design menus and figure out the best way to organize the content.  The organization has to intuitive for a user that doesn't know what might be there.  I think that the organization is the toughest part of this.

So, if you want to play along, feel free to drop in.  If you are on in the evening, you might even see the site change around you while you are there.  Buttons will pop up on menus.  Themes will change.  Content will show up... and then move.

It certainly isn't "live" for public consumption, but for those that like watching races just to see wrecks... this might be fun... and it will last for weeks.

I'll start getting really excited when I'm able to order up a custom theme...

So far I like it.  I'm migrating content from my other platforms, and the process isn't that bad.  The ability to make a change once and have it appear throughout the site is GREAT.

Lane - for the uninformed, what is Joomla? It sounds very technical and so probably over my head, but I still would like to know.

Jennifer - You have a mention on the site soon, if not already... You gave me a new term.

Faina - Joomla is a Content Management System (CMS).  Basically, it lets a website owner organize their content separately from the design of the site.  On my old site, I designed a basic page template, and then plugged the content in.  If I changed the menu, I had to change all of the pages individually.  For a few pages, that isn't a big deal.  But, the new site will have a lot of pages.  Articles (some are blog posts, others are expanded from blog posts), as well as other info means that there is a lot of stuff.  However, when I make a change to the menu, or even the style of the page, it changes throughout.  It is REALLY cool.

Paul - I understand.  If I turned on the "time of upload" you'd see that I am becoming a night owl...

Have a look at what I did to Joomla!

I did this site over the weekend and just wrapped it up about 10 minutes ago.

Take a look at my new beta site. Everything works except for the webmail in the CRM.  PLEASE give me your feedback.
