GASOLINE PRICES - COMIC RELIEF! WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO?

I received the below today from one of my favorite loan officers. Bill is an ActiveRain member, but doesn't post. Why, I don't know. He can certainly write and he's been using the Internet for years. But, I'll look out for him. I've know Bill for years and he's one of the hardest working loan officers I know.

Bill is one of those great loan officers who answers his phone. Love that! He also managed to close a tight short sale for me in about 9 days. Love that too.

I told him to post these signs or give me permission to to do so. He gave me permission. Love that too.

Kevin. With prices going up like this, folks won't be driving as much this summer. I "topped off" at $3.43 a gallon today.

Brenda. I thought it clever too.

Lisa. We're not at that high yet, although some stations are. I paid $3.43 today.

That's great - was it some kind of vector? How did he do it. They look like photoshoped pictures. It cost you over $300 to fill your tank???!!!! OMG - what do you drive. I have Honda Element - it costs me about $45 to fill up.

We went through this a couple of years ago, and there wasn't much humor at the pumps--we better laugh while we can. I can only hope this gives some do-good enviornmental wacko Gas! "Remember the Alamo." may become "Remember Anwar."

My solution (though not always practical) is more "shoe leather" and better trip planning. My wife and I become more likely to call one another with a "honey-do" list: "will you stop on your way home, and pick up..." and "do you mind if I pick that up tomorrow afternoon--I'll be close to there."

Last fall I purchased a more fuel-efficient carburetor for the old Ford tractor--that $300 is starting to look like a good investment.

Ruthmarie. Where did I write $300 to top off. I paid $3.43 a gallon yesterday. That said, I paid $3.24.9 a few dsys ago to top off. To fill the tank of my Toyota 4Runner, from empty, would cost about $70. I suspect that a Toyota 4Runner has a larger tank than a Honda Element.

Fred. Good planning can save a LOT of money on gasoline these days. Just to make a trip to Leesburg is a gallon of gas for me, that's abut $7.00 round trip. I started thinking along those terms 2 years ago. How much is the round trip. That's when I trained myself to leave a big earlier, combine chores and stops enroute and save $10 here and there. It's like a game to me.

Emily. Regular gas was from $3.43 to $3.59 around here yesterday. It shot up very quickly over the past week.

Got to laugh, huh Lenn; if we don't laugh we might just cry! However, as I was driving my '10 Mercedes 350 ML SUV to work today, I looked at the gas prices today and thought, how lucky are we to be able to afford these prices and drive luxury vehicles while there are so many in the world that don't have these luxury. Gail. I don't accept that. Not everyone can "afford" those prices but have to sacrifice much get to their job. I object to Americans being treated like puppets on a string.
