Texas Independence Day

There is a building in downtown Dallas built and occupied by Hunt Oil Company.  The north end of the building points toward the Woodall Rogers Freeway.  That end of the building is covered with LED lights that can be made to become a wonderful display.  I have almost driven off the road watching the light display on the side of that building.  For example, on the 4th of July, they have had cascading red, white and blue stars tumbling down the facade of the building.  There is a video clip of the display they did in honor of the local hockey team, the Stars.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ng64m1tfXjU&feature=related

Several different times, I have entertained out-of-town friends by taking them down to watch the lights on the Hunt Oil Building.  We have parked across the highway from the building and just watched the light show, a really cool Urban Living "perk".

I drove past the building tonight.  It was displaying the Texas flag.  It took me a minute to realize why.  Today is the 175th Anniversary of the day Texas declared its independence from Mexico.  March 2, 1836.  That's why!  So, Happy Birth-day, Texas.
