Home Staging Tips from IAHSP's Barb Schwarz

By
Home Stager with Design2Sell

Barb Schwarz, founder of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals has been featured in an article published in the Wall Street Journal explaining the history and importance of home staging. Schwarz coined the term “staging” during the 1970's and created the marketing concept that we use today.

Here are some home staging tips from Barb Schwarz :

• Remove family photographs, trophies and certificates

•Pack away religious items

• Stow personal collections and controversial artwork, no matter how valuable

• Declutter countertops and dresser tops

• Use neutral colors on the walls and floors; for pop, use “movable” color on pillows, towels, etc.

• Neutralize smells from smoking, pets, even strong room deodorizers

Barbara, Barb sums it up quick perfectly.  Now, if only we could get homeowners to follow the simple list!

Hi Barbara,

Way to go, what a great job you did on this....and thank you for quoting me, I am so very proud of you and honored to have you in our ASP Family at Stagedhomes.com and our wonderful IAHSP Association!

As you know it is all about communciatio with the seller, their motivation and how we show them and teach them the benefits of ASP Home Staging!  Communciation is the key and has to be done right first before the Staging ever begins....and then must continue through the whole Staging Process.

Keep up your great work, and I remain your number one fan!

all my best,

Barb Schwarz

Barb just keeps popping up all over the place!  (like above)  Staging is always about getting back to the basics as she mentioned in the article.  Thanks for sharing them with us as a great reminder.
