How many times have we voted for some man or woman who, during the runup to elections, tells us in no uncertain terms that they stand firmly behind A and would never be able to get behind B? No matter what. Over their dead body. We think to ourselves that is is our candidate. They value what we value.
And then they get elected. We decide to do a little check up on our candidate, just to see how they have voted so far. What the heck? They voted for B! How could they. We call their office only to be given a whole list of excuses explaining why they had to vote for B. Yeah right.
It is time to hold our elected politicians more than just accountable for what they do and say. Forget the media running an expose on them. Forget waiting until next election cycle. They tell us no on B and they had better mean it. Because...
We are going to start suing them for breach of contract. Thats right. In some areas it has already happened and it will spread.
We are just about fed up with lies and half promises. If a candidate tells us something to get elected, they had better stand by it or step down. Or pay big.
