Corcoran announces iPhone App Content Partnership with Curbed Network

One of the key things that sets looking for real estate with Corcoran's interactive platforms apart from its competitors is the vast wealth of information we provide for what's AROUND the property. From corcoran.com to our interactive touchscreen window displays, its in our digital DNA. One of the most successful (and most fun) ways we do this is inside our iPhone app, sharing this information based on either the property being looked at or where the person is in the city via our 'Get Out Nearby' feature baked into each property detail page. We provide a large amount of information on shopping, nightlife and places to eat around each home for sale or rent, giving a great sense of the area and what it's like to really live there. With this feature, you can call to make reservations, read reviews, and even check-in on Foursquare, all directly within the Corcoran app.

Today we are thrilled to announce the next phase of this project, which will populate Corcoran's app with nearby news stories for real estate, retail stores, and restaurants, created and curated by our good friends at The Curbed Network. The way our app users will read these stories differs from our other 'nearby' content though. The stories from Curbed (real estate), Racked (retail) and Eater (restaurants) will only appear when you are looking at a home with a 'nearby' story, making the stories discoverable, highly targeted to the user, and fun to find within the app. In this sense they are more like a venue's 'Nearby Special' that has been so popular in services such as Foursquare.

When you find a nearby story, a small pop-up banner will appear at the top of the property page (pictured above) alerting you, and give you the opportunity to read about something happening in the immediate area surrounding the home. We think it's a great way to provide an even greater sense of what's happening in the neighborhoods Corcoran serves, have fun discovering stories around town, and put that knowledge and expertise directly into the app users' hands.

We're thrilled to have partnered with The Curbed Network on this project, and thank them for helping us to realize our dream of providing a great level of local, insightful and relevant information around Corcoran's home searches. We hope you have fun discovering these stories around town, and thank you for supporting our interactive future.

Hi Mitchell... since it seems to be real estate lawsuit week, you may want to watch the use of "Digital DNA".  It a Motorola trademark!  Ironically, worked for someone who helped come up with the campaign!

Mitchell, it sounds like an awesome app. Is it available only for iPhone or can I get it for my Android? I'd love to try it out.

My app is for Westchester County, strictly MLS. Customers get it by texting NINA to 87778. One feature people like is the integrated GPS. It maps the closest listings to your location and can also show recent sales. However, it does not hold a candle to all the features you all have going. Kudos!

Steve, That's interesting about Motorola's trade mark. I wonder if apple computer will sue me for saying I sell real estate in the big Apple.

Hi Nina, Your app sounds fabulous. That's great that they can text your name. We do have an app for Android.

Mitchell,

Huray for Corcoran for being on the leading edge.  We just designed an iPhone app for one of our clients. This is becoming a mobile world. We predicted it 10 years ago when we wrote our marketing patent, and now we keep seeing different applications of a mobile world.  We love all these innovations!  A
