It's carnival time!                                                                                                                                       Mardi Gras Masks

The Mardi Gras festivities are underway throughout Lafayette, Louisiana and Greater Acadiana. So raise your hands real high and scream as loud as you can, "throw me something mister" to catch those coveted Mardi Gras throws.

Listed below are the dates for the many parades and area events, as well as, a parade route map to help you plan your carnival outings. 

As we say in Acadiana, "Laissez les bon temps rouler" (Let the good times roll!).

   Krewe des Chiens Parade, 2 pm, Downtown from
          Lafayette Public Library to Parc Sans Souci          
   Krewe of Roux Parade, 3 pm, UL Campus to Cajun Field 
   Lake Arthur Mardi Gras Parade, 2 pm in Lake Arthur

Joyce - I was fortunate to experience "Carnivale" in Venice, Italy a few years back. It was an unforgettable experience.

Malcolm - Carnival is a lot of fun but New Orleans has the market cornered on Mardi Gras.

I lived in New Orleans in 1993 and 1994. I enjoyed 2 Mardi Gras...what a life changing event. We had another phrase in the Quarter we used to shout but I won't repeat it here. ;-)

Hey Mike good to see you back blogging!  We will be Mardi Grasing this weekend, going to Krewe of Barkus and the Boat Parade.  Lots of activities over here in Calcasieu parish too.  Last weekend we went to a Ball and had a fun time of course I blogged about it :)

I remember my first Mardi Gras.  It was chaotic and so much fun.  At first I told my husband I would never stoop to calling out for some beads.  That lasted half an hour, then I was jostling with people for goodies and yelling "Throw Me Something, Mister" as loud as I could.  What an exhilarating time.  Enjoy.

I remember celebrating my divorce and going to New Orleans for one Mardi Grass. . .crossed one of the things "I Have To Do Before I Die list". . but come to think of it. . I can't hardly remember what I did those 3 days! . .all I know is that I had fun!
