Yesterday I started one week of grueling training! Next Saturday its the Annual Browerville Alumni Basketball Tournament. I missed it last year because of a speech contest I was in, so its been two years since I played an organized basketball game.
I work out three or four times a week but I am not in shape enough to play two or three basketball games. So this week I thought I better step it up. Its cold in Minnesota so the workouts will likely stay indoors and probably consist of ramping up the tread mill speeds in intervals and building the times and speed for the next few days just so I can go up and down the court a few times without falling over.
That next part is I have only shot the ball a few times at the park the last couple of years and certainly not much in the last 6-8 month with the winter. Hopefully the snow melts a little and we hit a higher temperature this week so I can get a few shots in as well.
I am alright just rebounding, playing defense and setting screens, but I still need to get up and down the court to do that. I probably should have started the harder work outs a week earlier! But hopefully this will be enough to get me by.
Two years ago the team I was on made the championship game and in the 3rd game I was worthless. We got destroyed by the younger kids. I remember being really good the first game and okay the second game, my feet were so sore I could barely walk by the 3rd game.
How I feel after todays workout will be a sign of whats to come. I plan to go real hard today...and hopefully live to tell about it.
