What Job Did You Have Before Entering Real Estate?

Job Before Real Estate

For some, real estate was love at first sight. For others like myself, maybe it took a mid-life crisis to find it. I left my clerical bookkeeping job in 2006, and prior to that I was in accounting when I lived in the Philippines.

So what was your job before entering the real estate world?

I was Vice President of Administration at a lighting manufacturing company. We could not longer compete with the imported lighting fixtures, so the business closed. There were not a lot of jobs in the Keys, so here I am.

I was working on a roof.  It was 102 degrees.
I went home early, a little sick, and was all cleaned up when my wife got home.

At dinner, I said, "I could get into real estate licensing classes in two weeks," and she nearly interrupted me saying, "I wish you would!"

Done.

Hi Lydia - I was in sales and marketing for years with Valvoline Oil and Cummins Engine Company.  I moved a lot for those jobs.  Buying and selling homes was second nature to me, so when I decided it was time for a career change, real estate was a natural fit (and the sales and marketing background gave me a big head start!).

Hi Lydia - I was a teacher. I taught journalism, newspaper, yearbook and photography. I use my writing and photography skills a lot in real estate.

Hey everyone! Thank you all for your posts. I love seeing how everyone has come from various backgrounds prior to real estate. This is most likely what makes meeting new people in the industry so exciting.
